Both sides have absentees due to international commitments with Australia’s ODI squad to face India, but who will cope best with the losses of key men?
The Strikers will miss opening batsman and wicketkeeper Alex Carey (162 runs) as well as bowlers Billy Stanlake (seven wickets) and Peter Siddle (four wickets). All three have been at the forefront of Strikers’ campaign so far.
Responsibility will fall on Jack Weatherald (203 runs) with the bat and Rashid Khan (ten wickets) with the ball. But the Strikers do welcome back captain Travis Head, who returns from the Australian test team.
The Stars saw their three-match winning streak broken by the Perth Scorchers and it coincided with the loss of Marcus Stoinis (146 runs, four wickets), Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa to national duty.
Nic Maddinson’s return from injury and Ben Dunk’s timely return to form helped bridge the gap and a lot of focus will now fall on Dwayne Bravo. But the Strikers should have the edge at home.
