Gold Coast stages the annual Magic Million Day on Saturday with the 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas headlining a huge day.
Big fields are set for Saturday’s action with Outback Barbie favourite for the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
The $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic looks hugely competitive with three horses Dubious, Exhilarates and Unite And Conquer all battling for favouritism.
More than $9.3 million is on offer across the nine races, which also include the Magic Millions Cup and Magic Millions Trophy.
Follow our guides to the key races below:
Race 7 – Magic Millions 3YO Guineas
The Chris Munce-trained BOOMSARA ($4.80 TopBetta) has won three and placed three more time from nine starts. He showed his class early finishing 2nd to Sesar and beating home Lean Mean Machine in the Group 3 Ken Russell (1200m) at Gold Coast, and his other two runs at the track are both wins. First-up this campaign, Boomsara finished 2.7 lengths from the unbeaten Zoustyle before finishing one length runner-up behind that galloper next time. Last start in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) he was forced to take up the running from barrier 12, and impressively won by 4.5 lengths. Having drawn barrier 18 in this, similar tactics will have to be used again. Outback Barbie is favourite but she was convincingly beaten by Boomsara last start. Bondi could be the danger having performed well in Group 1 company on two occasions.
Race 8 – Magic Millions 2YO Classic
Unbeaten gallopers Unite And Conquer and CZARSON ($7.00 ClassicBet) have drawn gates 18 and 15 respectively, and their wide gates have seen the pair drift out in the market, while Dubious and Exhilarates have firmed. However, Houtzen (2017) won this race from gate 16 and Sunlight won from barrier 12 last year, and if the emergencies don’t get a run, Unite And Conquer and Czarson will jump from gates 14 and 12. While it’s not ideal to draw wide, the last two year’s results show it can be done from an outside gate. Unite And Conquer and Czarson, both undefeated in two starts, bring the strongest form to this race. Exhilarates scored impressively at Gold Coast last Saturday, but he was beaten 2.1 lengths by Czarson three starts back and was 1.5 lengths behind Unite And Conquer next time. Unite And Conquer should lead and Czarson can get a nice trail in behind and finish best over 1200m.
