Read our previews and tips for all four games below.
Indianapolis Colts @ Kansas City Chiefs
In the first game of the weekend, the Indianapolis Colts will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. The Colts are 11-6 following a win last weekend while the Chiefs enter the game 12-4. The Colts have proven that they are a much better team than many considered them to be at earlier points in the season. A handicap of +5.5 points therefore looks pretty large in this game, especially for a team that just cooled off the Houston Texans last weekend. In that contest, the Colts marched into Houston and handed them a 16-point loss. There’s a fair chance that the Colts will win this game outright, however, chances but play the handicap as Kansas City do enter the game 7-1 from home on the moneyline.
Prediction: Colts +5 ($1.92 MadBookie)
Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams
The LA Rams’ 13-3 season is on the line, but are the Cowboys are good enough to topple them? Dallas enters the divisional round having improved from 3-5 on the season to 11-6. Their only loss in that time was a 23-0 defeat to Indianapolis. If we disregard the Cowboys’ early-season results and focus on where they are at, they do look a formidable unit. Of their eight-most recent wins three were against teams that are still alive at this late-stage of the season. One of their wins was against New Orleans, the favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Cowboys might be able to challenge Los Angeles in this one a lot better than many think. Take Dallas to win this one and cause an upset.
Prediction: Cowboys ($3.80 TopBetta)
Los Angeles Chargers @ New England Patriots
The Los Angeles Chargers find themselves on the road against the New England Patriots. The Chargers are 9-0 when visiting this season including Wild Card Weekend, while the Pats are 8-0 when hosting, so something has to give. New England’s 11-5 overall record is only good, while the Chargers are 13-4, including last week’s road win. Avoid the moneyline in the difficult match-up and concentrate on the total points. When the Patriots hosted quality teams this season a whole lot of points were scored. Look for the Chargers and Patriots to run up a score.
Prediction: Over 47 points ($1.82 MadBookie)
Philadelphia Eagles @ New Orleans Saints
Experience carried the Philadelphia Eagles through last weekend as the defending Super Bowl champions avoided an exit in the Wild Card round. Now they will have to defeat the New Orleans Saints in a game where the Eagles don’t have that experience edge. The Saints have a firm 6-2 record from the regular season. Overall, New Orleans went a league-best +151 on point differential this season. Those are great reasons to back them despite the Eagles having knocked out Chicago. Philly has recent losses to the Bucs, the Titans, the Vikings, and the Panthers. Not one of those recent losses was against a team as good New Orleans. Take the Saints to cover the spread.
Prediction: Saints -8 ($1.89 TopBetta)
