NRL Round 10: Betting Preview and Tips

Melbourne Storm and Wests Tigers kick off NRL Round 10 on Thursday night with eight big games in store.

The biggest sees a top four clash between Canberra Raiders and South Sydney Rabbitohs on Saturday night.

We preview all eight games.

Melbourne Storm vs Wests Tigers

After a month of average performances, Melbourne bounced back in emphatic fashion in Magic Round last week – can Craig Bellamy’s side deliver another statement victory on Thursday night against the Tigers? It’s been an up-and-down season for the Tigers so far, but they currently occupy sixth place on the ladder and have fond memories of the last two times they met Melbourne. The Tigers won 10-8 in Round 2 and 11-10 in Round 5 last year, so they know they can hang and outlast last year’s Grand Finalists. However, playing at home and confident after last week’s huge win, you can’t back against Melbourne.

Prediction: Storm by 13+ ($2.00 TopBetta)

Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors

Languishing at the foot of the ladder with just two wins from nine games, can the Panthers begin to turn their season around when they face the Warriors at home on Friday night? The Warriors have a terrible record away to Penrith, going winless since 2012. The Panthers are playing horribly at the moment, but this is an excellent chance to secure a win and to start building some momentum. It’s a must-win game for the Panthers and I think they’ll take it.

Prediction: Panthers win ($1.72 TopBetta)

Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters

Brisbane will be desperate to avoid a repeat of what happened the last time they faced the minor premiers – and it wasn’t long ago either, with the Roosters running out dominant 36-4 winners six weeks ago. Before they were struck by injuries, the Roosters were doing it easy against Canberra – a top four side who were in great form themselves. Staying up in Queensland for this clash, the Roosters will be fresh and ready to do it all again, and even though the Broncos were better last week, they are still off the pace when it comes to the competition leaders.

Prediction: Roosters by 1-12 ($3.00 TopBetta)

Gold Coast Titans vs Canterbury Bulldogs

After putting together poor starts over the first nine rounds of the competition, it’s time for the Titans and Bulldogs to step up and claim a vital two points on Saturday. These two sides have split their last four meetings at two wins apiece, and this game is anyone’s shot. Both teams are desperate and aren’t bringing much momentum into this one. I think Gold Coast have more points in them, so I’ll lean with the home side coming away with the spoils.

Prediction: Titans win ($1.66 TopBetta)

North Queensland Cowboys vs Parramatta Eels

After a humbling and embarrassing loss to the Storm last week, can Parramatta post an immediate response when they travel further north to face the Cowboys on Saturday? The Cowboys have won three of their last four meetings, which should give them confidence for this one. Parramatta, as we saw last week, are still suspect outside of BankWest Stadium, and the Cowboys weren’t too bad last week against Souths. I’m backing the home side in a close one.

Prediction: Cowboys win ($1.68 TopBetta)

Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs

Canberra find themselves in a top four blockbuster against a Sydney club for the second week running as they come up against the Rabbitohs on Saturday night. Canberra do have a great record against Souths, winning four of their last five encounters, but I think they’ll fall just short with some of their star players out. The Rabbitohs are flying and on the rare times they are pushed, they usually are able to dig out a win. I think they’ll be too strong on Saturday.

Prediction: Rabbitohs win ($1.72 TopBetta)

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Newcastle Knights

The Knights haven’t won four games in a row since 2015 – can they snap that four-year sequence when they square off against the Dragons on Sunday afternoon? The Dragons have won their last three encounters with the Knights, but I think Newcastle are the favourites in this one. The Dragons are missing Corey Norman and lacking some spark right now, while the Knights are confident and flowing along nicely at the moment. It’s time for Newcastle to win four matches in a row for the first time in four years.

Prediction: Knights win ($2.14 TopBetta)

Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles

Despite only winning one of their last one of their last nine encounters against the Sea Eagles, the Sharks will be confident of coming away with the victory on Sunday. The Sea Eagles will be buoyed by their great record over Cronulla and will fancy their chances to bounce back on Sunday. It promises to be a tight showdown, but the Sharks have got to start coming out on top in these matches at some stage, and on the back of a mini-winning streak, they should have the edge on Sunday.

Prediction: Sharks win ($1.54 TopBetta)
