Australia Day provides us with some big racing on Saturday with the feature metro action coming from Caulfield and Randwick.
We pick out the best bets for the holiday weekend.
Read our best bets for Australia Day below:
MISS NORWAY ($2.51 ClassicBet) was tough first-up at Sandown and beat As It Lies on protest. She was too good two starts ago at The Valley too, winning easily. Up in grade but still favourite last start over this track and distance, she could only finish fifth. She gets a positive jockey change, with Luke Currie replacing Michael Poy and shouldn’t be far away in the small field.
AL GALAYEL ($2.71 TopBetta) defeated Pakenham Cup winner Our Big Mike two starts ago at The Valley and his last start win against Masculino was impressive. He looped the leaders off a slow tempo and was always going to have a superior turn of foot. Craig Williams is two from two on him and stays on board. Lamborghini is in career-best form but this is tougher. Al Galayel should prove too much.
A two-horse race between STAR FALL ($2.31 TopBetta)and Sylvia’s Mother. Sylvia’s Mother defeated Alassio last start and that form has been franked. Star Fall has won all three races this time in and was impressive winning at Randwick last start. His times looks good and he’s still open to improvement at his second start in Sydney.
Extreme Bliss defeated TORYJOY ($2.41 ClassicBet) last start, but with the latter is better at the weights this time and is open to more improvement. She improved significantly third-up at Kensington to win over 1550m. Hugh Bowman takes the ride and will more than likely try and take a sit behind the speed this time with a few others looking to burn across from wide gates.
